After working as an assistant to [Yanagisawa Kimio](https://www.mangaupdates.com/authors.html?id=5346), he made his debut in 1972 with *Love Love Kappa Great Maneuvers* in Bessatsu Shonen Jump, being awarded two years later with the Tezuka Award. In 1981 his most famous series, [Munasawagi no Houkago](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=60683), was made into a film and TV series in 1982 and 1983 respectively.
