Information for Authors: Horikoshi first attracted attention in the second half of 2006 when he entered [Shueisha](https://www.mangaupdates.com/publishers.html?id=163)'s 72th Tezuka Award for Newcomers with his one shot "Nukegara" and made it to the final six, where he gained himself an "Honorable Mention". Various short stories in Shueisha's [Akamaru Jump](https://www.mangaupdates.com/publishers.html?pubname=Akamaru+Jump) followed over the years until he published his one shot [Oumagadoki Doubutsuen](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=51560) in issue #2/2010 of [Weekly Shounen Jump](https://www.mangaupdates.com/publishers.html?pubname=Shuukan+Shounen+Jump). In the same year he got the serialization of this one shot. After some time he published a new one shot [Sensei no Barrage](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=77850) in [Jump Next!](https://www.mangaupdates.com/publishers.html?pubname=Jump+Next%21), and in 2012 he got serialization of it. In this year he gained some popularity also worldwide, like in USA and in Europe. In 2014 he started [Boku no Hero Academia](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=112459), basing the series on some concepts from an old one-shot, and briefly the series became a very big hit, generating a franchise and winning some national and international prizes. [HORIE Ryuu](https://www.mangaupdates.com/authors.html?id=34034) and [AKIYAMA Yoco](https://www.mangaupdates.com/authors.html?id=34683) were once his assistant on Hero Academia. While [NEDA Hirofumi](https://www.mangaupdates.com/authors.html?id=29504) and [OOTAKE Toshitomo](https://www.mangaupdates.com/authors.html?id=24709) has worked as his assistant on both series. He stated that [OSADA Yu-Ko](https://www.mangaupdates.com/authors.html?id=3297) is one of his influences, Horikoshi also stated, that Osada’s drawings are the complete form of shounen manga.
