AOMATA Pinku

Japanese Name: 碧也ぴんく

Gender: Female

Information for Authors: Pinku Aomata is the pen name for a Japanese manga artist, primarily for a shōjo audience. Her debut was in 1988 with shounen Ninja Kumari, in the Newtype supplement Comic Genki published by Kadokawa Shoten. She became best known however for two long running manga versions of Kyokutei Bakin's epic 19th century novel Nansou Satomi Hakkenden. The first, titled just Hakkenden, is a straight adaptation; the second, Blind Game, is a retelling set in the near future. Also durable is her Kigai Karte series, a collection of different stories, began in 1994 and still ongoing as of April 2006, in the magazine Wings published by Shinshokan. Only one of Aomata's manga is available translated into English, Tenka Ichi!!. However, one of her earlier works, Fight!, was adapted as a single episode OVA by J.C.Staff in 1993, and was released in the US by Media Blasters in 2001.
